Obituary for Barbara Jane Ives

Jane Ives, (nee-Plas), 84, of Elyria passed away Saturday November 16, 2019 at her home following a brief illness. She was born February 8, 1935 in Wellington and was a lifelong Elyria resident. Jane was employed in mail delivery for the Lorain County Supplementary Center in Elyria for 25 years, retiring in 1997. She was a member of Our Lady Queen of Peace Roman Catholic Church in Grafton, a life member of Hinkson-Hysell V.F.W. Post 3341 in Grafton and was a former Regent at the Elyria Moose Lodge #778. She was also an avid bowler and enjoyed spending time with her family. Survivors include her husband of 64 years, Jack; daughter, Marijane Burkart (husband, Rick-deceased); son, Mike (Vicki) Ives; grandchildren, Julie (David) Knoll and Ryan (Mayeth) Ives; great-grandchildren, Bryson, Makenna, Emory and Khenzie. She was preceded in death by her sisters, Dorothy Hall, Tudy Solet and Marcella Heiser and a brother, Bob Plas. The family will receive friends Monday November 25, 2019 in the gathering area of Our Lady Queen of Peace Church 708 Erie St. Grafton from 10:00 a.m. until the time of a Memorial Mass in the Sanctuary at 11:00 a.m.. The Rev. Fr. John P. Seabold, pastor, will be the Celebrant.
Burial will be private. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions can be made to Crossroads Hospice 9775 Rockside Rd. Suite 270 Valley View, OH. 44125. Funeral arrangements have been entrusted to the Laubenthal-Mercado Funeral Home and Cremation Services 38475 Chestnut Ridge Rd., Elyria. Online condolences may be expressed at
