Richard Webber Obituary

Richard Earl “Dick” Webber, 91, of Grafton passed away Wednesday April 10, 2024 at the Lifecare Center of Elyria. Dick was born August 2, 1932 in Elyria and was a Grafton resident for 70 years. He was a member of Our Lady Queen of Peace Catholic Church in Grafton (formally Immaculate Conception), where he and his wife Nancy were married in 1953. An active member of the church, he served as an usher 40 years, was a member of the Holy Name Society, bowled in the church bowling league and played on the church softball team. He worked at Cascade Plating in Elyria for 45 years, as President, CEO and co-owner. He was also a member of the Elyria United Polish Club and the Michigan Conservation Club and a former member of the Knights of Columbus, Elks and AMVETS. He enjoyed spending time with his family, his church, hunting, fishing, traveling, gardening, golf and traveling to Las Vegas. Growing up in Elyria he attended St. Mary’s and was on the City League 8th grade basketball championship team in 1946. He also played football for two years at Elyria High School and graduated from Elyria Catholic in 1951. Survivors include his wife of 70 years, Nancy (nee-Valerius); sons, Timothy (Sue), Terence and Gary (Julie); grandchildren, Amy Boone, Chris Webber, Jody Greetham, Nick Webber, Jack Bell and Amanda Owen; 11 great-grandchildren and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by granddaughter, Molly Beth Webber, parents, Earl and Mildred Webber and brothers, Edward, James and Frank. The family will receive friends Monday April 15, 2024 10:00-11:00 a.m. in the Gathering Area of Our Lady Queen of Peace Church 708 Erie St., Grafton. Mass of Christian Burial will follow at 11:00 a.m. in the Sanctuary of the church. The Rev. Fr. John P. Seabold, pastor, will be the Celebrant. Burial will be private. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions can be made to the church. Laubenthal-Mercado Funeral Home and Cremation Services of Elyria is entrusted with arrangements.
