Obituary

Matilda E. “Tillie” Bartha (nee Waryu), 94,  of Elyria passed away peacefully with her family by her side Wednesday, June 1, 2022 at Life Care of Elyria. She was born May 21, 1928 in Yatesboro, PA She graduated from  Consolidated High School in 1946 and has lived in Elyria since that time. She was active in all PTA’s, Elyria High Band Parents, Cub Scouts, and Demolay Mothers. Tillie was a 56 year member of First Congregational Church of Elyria , where she served as Deaconess and she was active in the Mayflower Guild and 1st church women. She was an accomplished seamstress and enjoyed cruising, traveling and golf. She belonged to Fourthers of the YMCA and Cotllion Dance Club. Tillie was employed by Bendix Westinghouse, Moen, and she retired as administrative assistant at Nautalloy. Survivors include her sons, Thomas E. Bartha and James G. Bartha; brother, Charles F. Waryu; sister, Mary Ann Young. She was preceded in death by her husband Ernest G. Bartha in 2008; parents Joseph and Julia Waryu (nee Balog); brother Joseph Waryu; sisters, Julia Peters and Helen Fire. Contributions may be made to the First Congregational Church 330 2nd Street Elyria, OH 44035 or Charity of Choice. Family will receive friends from 12 PM until time of service at 1 PM Monday, June 6, 2022 at the Laubenthal-Mercado Funeral Home and Cremation Service 38475 Chestnut Ridge Rd.
