Martha L. Zalka

Martha L. Zalka, 71, of Pittsfield Township, passed away on Wednesday, September 13, 2023 at her residence. She was born in Elyria on February 1, 1952 to parents Joseph Sr. and Rose (nee: Polacsek). Martha graduated from Keystone High School in 1970. She worked for 41 years as a machine operator and retired from Ridge Tool Company in 2014. She enjoyed going to Amish country with friends on Z Tours and gardening.  Survivors include her sister, Kathleen Zalka; brother, Joseph (Jody) Zalka, Jr.; niece, Amy (Matt) Coleman, great-niece, Carlee and Avery Coleman.  She is preceded in death by her parents; nephew, Joseph Zalka III, and her sister, Rosemary Zalka. Visitation will be held on Friday, September 22, 2023 at 4 PM until the time of service at 7 PM at the Laubenthal Mercado Funeral Home 38475 Chestnut Ridge Road (at State Rt 57) in Elyria. Reverend Father John P. Seabold will officiate. Burial will be private. Memorial contributions in Martha’s name can be sent to Pittsfield Township Historical Society P.O.
