Marlene D. (nee Meecha) Horner, age 91, of Vermilion, passed away peacefully on March 11, 2023 at Mill Manor Care Center in Vermilion. She was born on October 28, 1931 to parents Victor and Cecilia (nee: Blazer) Meecha in North Ridgeville. Marlene was a member of the Fraternal Order of Eagles in Elyria. She enjoyed playing cards, board games, Ohio State Football, and cooking for her family. Survivors include her daughter, Joyce (Jim) Jeavons; son, Byron (Clarann) Horner; sisters, Evelyn Boals, Joan Payne and sister-in-law Kay Meecha; grandchildren, Carrie (Casey) Miller, Heather (Chuck) Holley, Leslie Horner(Robbie Faucette), and Jimmy Jeavons, Jr; greatgrandchildren, Regan Miller, Dillon Miller, Shelby Miller, and Haylen Holley. She is preceded in death by her husband, Clyde (1998); sisters, Catherine Forthofer and Loretta Stanko, sister-in-law Jean Meecha; brothers, Albert, Dan, and Jerry; brother-in-laws George Boals, Steve Stanko, LaVerne Forthofer and James Payne. Family will receive friends on Wednesday, March 15, 2023 from 4-7 PM at The Laubenthal Mercado Funeral Home 38475 Chestnut Ridge Rd. Elyria (440) 322-4626. Mass of Christian Burial will be held at St. Jude Catholic Church 590 Poplar Street in Elyria on Thursday, March 16, 2023 at 10 AM (meet at church). The Reverend Father Joseph Scalco, CSJ, Pastor of St. Jude Church will officiate. Burial will follow at St. Mary Cemetery in Elyria. In lieu of flowers, contributions can be made to New Life Hospice.
