Marie Frances (Rauscher) Rader

Our beloved Marie Frances Rausher Rader was a kind, caring and generous mother, grandmother and wife during her incredible 96 years of life. She passed away Monday May 8, 2023 at Welcome Nursing Home in Oberlin. Marie had a long and full life. She was born on May 17, 1926 in Cleveland and moved to Grafton with her family after high school. It was in Grafton where she met the love of her life, Walter “Walt” Rader. When he passed away in 2016 they had been married for 68 wonderful years. Marie was employed by Lehman and Johnson Real Estate Company in downtown Elyria for 40 years as a bookkeeper/office manager. She was a faithful member of Our Lady Queen of Peace Catholic Church in Grafton for 76 years. She was an avid flower gardener and loved being outside in the sun. Marie knew the name of any flower or plant that you could describe. She and Walter loved hosting family reunions in their backyard every summer. Marie loved to play cards and bingo with friends and family. She also enjoyed having family and friends over for dinner. She is survived by her only child, David and his wife Robbie, five grandchildren, five great-grandchildren, many nieces, nephews and friends. She will be missed by everyone that knew her. Friends will be received on Monday May 22, 2023 in the Gathering Area of Our Lady Queen of Peace Catholic Church 708 Erie Street, Grafton from 10:00-11:00 a.m.. A Mass of Christian Burial will follow at 11:00 a.m. in the Sanctuary of the Church. The Rev. Fr. John P. Seabold will be the Celebrant. Burial will follow at Resthaven Memory Gardens, Avon. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions can be made to the church.
