Margaret A. Kish, (nee-Patania), 91, of Elyria entered into rest with her Savior Jesus on December 28, 2023 following a brief illness. She was born September 1, 1932 in Cleveland and was a lifelong Elyria resident. She was known for being the greatest mother, grandmother and nana anyone could ever hope to have. At the age of 15 she started working at Miller United Shoe Co. in Elyria. A 1950 Elyria High School graduate, she attended many class reunions with her best friends Fran and Joann. She attended Oberlin Business College and worked for a short time Cadillac Tank Plant in Cleveland. Margaret started working for Orthopedic Surgeon, Dr. Joseph Strong in the EST Bank building where he practiced. Dr. Strong expanded his business, establishing Orthopedic Services on East Ave. where she was office manager to many orthopedic doctors and staff for many years. She later worked for Dr. Sanjay Palekar for five years, finally retiring in 1985. Margaret loved to reminisce about growing up in Elyria and shared fond memories of going to the Rivoli, the Capitol, and Lincoln theaters with her family as a child. Going to Seghy’s, and ice cream at Isalys. Shopping with her mother at Merthe’s, Neisner’s and Style Center. She and her husband Frank built their home in Elyria and proudly raised five children there. There were several family vacations together seeing much of the United States. They enjoyed hosting many parties, celebrations and holidays in their home. She was an excellent cook and baker. Pizza, pies, cookies, cakes and cinnamon rolls, you name it she could bake it. She always made lots to be sure to have enough to share with everyone. She was proud of her Italian heritage and always made the traditional Christmas Eve dinner of spaghetti and meatballs. She was a devoted mother and grandmother and loved her children and grandchildren very much. She loved music, her favorites included Mario Lanza and II Divo, meeting them in Detroit, and attending 3 concerts. She enjoyed catching up on her favorite soaps, The Young and Restless and the Bold and the Beautiful. She loved spending time on her front porch and visiting with those that stopped by. She recently celebrated her 91st birthday at the Folger Home, lakeside in Avon Lake, a special celebration with family and friends. She was a member of St. Jude Catholic Church in Elyria. She shared her home with her daughter/caregiver Christina, son-in-law Vincent Ross and grandson (also godson) Noah who she lovingly nicknamed her “little peanut”. She was Beloved mother to Cathy Kish Houghtland, Michael Kish (Kathy), Steven Kish (Julie), Robert Kish and Christina Kish Ross (Vincent). Proud grandmother to Matthew Houghtland (Dawn), Joshua Kish, Ashley Kish (David), Christopher and Stephanie Kish, Katelyn Morris (Justin), Ben Kish and Noah Ross. great-grandchildren, Briana Robinson (Taylor), Eleana Houghtland, Gavin and Mason Kish, Logan Bump and Myles Morris. Great-great-grandchild, Jaxson Robinson. She was preceded in death by her husband of 54 years, Frank Kish in 2011, parents, Anthony Patania, 1980 and Catherine Patania (nee-Polen), 1965, brothers, Dominic Patania 2011, and Samual Patania 1951 and son-in-law, Tom Houghtland, 2021.
