Larry W. Oldfield, 86, of Elyria passed away at home on Tuesday, September 6, 2022 following a long illness. He was born March 19, 1936 in Elyria. Larry received his honorary Elyria High School diploma in 2019 after having enlisted in the US Army before graduation. He served during the Korean War as a SCARWAF Combat Engineer, 850th battalion. He loved spending time with family and friends, attending car shows and showing support for his community, and listening to Doo Wop music. Larry is preceded in death by his wife of 62 years, Rose M. Oldfield (née Sorino), his mother Joy V. Oldfield (nee: Harding), his father Wayne G. Oldfield, and siblings Carol, Max, and Sheldon. He is survived by two daughters; Michelle L. Oldfield of Elyria, Lisa M. Oldfield of Elyria, and son; Brad A. Oldfield (Denise Morrison) of Elyria. Additional survivors include three grandchildren; Brooke, Michael, Kaileigh, six great grandchildren; Alyssa, Michael, Jace, Adalyn, Leland, Beau, all of whom will miss his generosity and sense of humor. Graveside services will be held at 2PM, Friday, September 16, 2022 at Ridge Hill Memorial Park in Amherst Township where Pastor Jeff Baker will officiate. V.F.W. Post #1079 will provide full military honors. Funeral services were entrusted to The Laubenthal Mercado Funeral Home of Elyria (440)322-4626.
