Cole Lieux, 37, of Vermilion passed away at his home on Thursday September 7, 2023 surrounded by his loving family after a courageous battle with Cancer. Born August 29, 1986 in Oberlin, Cole attended Elyria High School and Ohio University. He worked as the shipping and recieving Supervisor at Vectron, Inc. in Elyria. Left to cherish his memory are his parents, Alisa and Kenny Lieux of Vermilion, and his mother, Peggy Lieux of Elyria; siblings, Lindsay Sweet of Boulder, CO., Anna (Derek) Rigby of Akron, Maggie Lieux of Elyria, Nick McCrary of Vermilion, Lexi (Braden) Nichols of Vermilion and Zach McCrary of Vermilion. The Heart and Soul of a large family, Cole also leaves numerous aunts, uncles and cousins whom he loved dearly. Beloved “Uncle Dolo” to nephew Julian, and nieces Emilia and Jolene, Cole was proud to serve as Godfather to Jolene. An accomplished golfer, poker player, bodysurfer and jokester, Cole had a large circle of lifelong friends, many, if not all, considered him their best friend. Special memories of all the golf trips, spontaneous golf games, card games and watching football and basketball games with his friends at Big Paw’s garage. His family will treasure his memory, his kindness, sense of humor and big heart. He truly was a gentle soul. A special thank you to all of our family and friends for their constant love, support and prayers during this difficult journey. Cole felt your love, which sustained him on a daily basis. A special thank you to all of Cole’s amazing doctors and nurses at the Cleveland Clinic, as well as Crossroads Hospice. The family will receive friends on Friday September 15, 2023 from 4:00 p.m. until the time of a Celebration of Life at 7:00 p.m. at the Laubenthal-Mercado Funeral Home and Cremation Services 38475 Chestnut Ridge Rd. (at State Rt. 57), Elyria. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in memory of Cole to the Lorain County Metroparks, Forest Hills Golf Course.
