John Robert Dawson

John Robert Dawson 55, of Grafton passed away unexpectedly on Monday September 18, 2023 at University Hospitals Elyria Medical Center.  He was born July 20, 1968 in Elyria.  John was a design engineer at Stanley Black and Decker formerly MTD. He treasured spending time with family, friends, especially with his nieces and nephews. He enjoyed restoring his Ford Bronco, woodworking, hiking, and being outdoors.  Survivors include his mother; Mary Dawson (nee: Robinson) of Grafton, three sisters; Joy Dawson-Hune (Merle) of Grafton, Gayle Ropchock of Grafton, Lynda Archer (Jeffrey) of Elyria, additional survivors include seven nieces; Lori, Kati, Kristi, Jodi, Nicole, Ashley, Megan and two great nephews; Granger and Rhett. John was preceded in death by his father; James Dawson.  The family will receive friends from 1-4 PM Sunday September 24, 2023 at The Laubenthal Mercado Funeral Home 38475 Chestnut Ridge Rd. Elyria (440)322-4626 where funeral services will be at 10:00 AM on Monday September 25, 2023.  Burial will be at Butternut Ridge Cemetery in Eaton Township.
