James Ronald Pollock, 92, of Elyria, Ohio passed away peacefully on September 16th at The Welsh Home in Rocky River surrounded by his loving family. Jim is survived by his children, Jennifer Lynne Pollock and Lesley Pollock Page; his grandson, Bradley Bohres and his sister, Audrey Miller. He is predeceased by his wife, Martha Ann Pollock, his parents, James Norman Pollock and Susan Pollock (nee Merva) and his sister, Phyllis Ehrman and brother, Kenneth Pollock. James attended Clearview High School and Bowling Green State University. While attending BGSU he earned a Bachelor’s Degree in Business/Accounting, was an active member of the Delta Tau Delta Fraternity and met his wife of 62 years, Martha (Glosser) Pollock. Jim worked as a civilian in the Great Lakes Pilotage Division of the Coast Guard as the head Auditor for the entire Great Lakes region for 25 years. Jim served in the US Navy and worked as an electrician on a ship during the Korean War. He served as the president of the Elyria Kiwanis Club where he devoted his time to fundraising for local charities (especially the pancake breakfast). He enjoyed spending his free time tinkering around the house and yard. He loved watching all types of Cleveland sports teams, especially the Cleveland Browns & Ohio State Buckeyes Football Teams. He could be found most weekends dressed in his blue coveralls mowing the lawn, lounging on his backyard deck or playing with his dogs, Inga, Spottie Ann or his kitty cats, Tiger and Sammy. Jim's family and friends will forever cherish his love of winning at card games (he loved shooting the moon in hearts) and his sense of humor. Family will receive friends from 3 PM until time of service at 5:30 PM Wednesday, September 20, 2023 at the Laubenthal-Mercado Funeral Home and Cremation Service 38475 Chestnut Ridge Rd.
