Jacob John “Jack” Knechtges 95, of Grafton passed away on Monday September 12, 2022, at O’Neill Healthcare in Bay Village. He was born May 29, 1927 in Elyria, OH. Jack served in the U.S. Navy. He was a pharmacist for over 45 years, the owner and operator of Grafton Pharmacy, and a devoted member of Our Lady Queen of Peace Catholic Church. Jack treasured spending time with his family and friends; he was an avid golfer, terrific card player and volunteered at the Lorain County Free Clinic for many years. Survivors include his wife of sixty-nine years and ten months; Angie L. (nee: Gomez), two daughters; Karen L. Machovina (the late Paul) of North Ridgeville, Judith E. Knechtges of Cary, North Carolina, a son; David S. Knechtges (Lois) of Loveland, Colorado, nine grandchildren; Jason Machovina (Lori), Erin Machovina King (Andy), Sarah Machovina, C. Marc Leyrer, Kathryn Leyrer, Stephanie Leyrer, Jacqueline Leyrer, Anne Knechtges, and Greg Knechtges, three great grandchildren; Nathan, Zane, and Phoenix King; and his sister Sr. Kathleen Knechtges S.N.D. Jack was preceded in death by his parents; Chauncy and Catherine (nee: Ward) Knechtges, two brothers; Charles and William (Ward) Knechtges and sister, Jeanne Kowalski , The family will receive friends from 1-4 PM on Sunday, September 18, 2022 at The Laubenthal Mercado Funeral Home, 38475 Chestnut Ridge Rd. (at State Rt. 57), Elyria, (440 )322-4626. Mass of Christian Burial will be at 10:30 AM, Monday, September 19, 2022, at Our Lady Queen of Peace Catholic Church, 708 Erie St. Grafton, OH. (Please meet at the church).The Reverend Father John P. Seabold, Pastor will be the Celebrant. Burial will be at St. Mary’s Cemetery in Grafton.
