Jack Kenneth Schumacher

Jack K. Schumacher, 93, of Elyria passed away Tuesday March 7, 2023 at his home following a brief illness. He was born April 13, 1929 in Dover, OH. and was an Elyria resident for most of his life. Jack retired from Elyria High School where he was a Biology Teacher for many years. He also coached various sports at the High School and was inducted into the Sports Hall of Fame. Jack served in the United States Navy during the Korean Conflict and was a member of both St. Paul United Church of Christ and the V.F.W. Post 1079 in Elyria. Survivors include his daughters, Cathy Schumacher and Kelly (Ken) Bruck; son, Craig (Melissa) Schumacher; 6 grandchildren and 6 great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his wife Dorothy and 2 brothers. Graveside Inurnment will be 2:00 p.m. Wednesday March 15, 2023 at Brookdale Cemetery, Oberlin/Elyria Road, Elyria, where members of V.F.W. Post 1079 will conduct full military honors. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to V.F.W. Post 1079 500 South Abbe Rd. Elyria, OH. 44035. Funeral arrangements have been entrusted to the Laubenthal-Mercado Funeral Home and Cremation Services 38475 Chestnut Ridge Rd., Elyria.
