On December 30, 2023, Eric James Glover, our beloved son, brother, father, grandfather, uncle passed away into God’s graces after a three-year battle with stage 4 cancer. Eric was 55 years old. Throughout his battle, Eric never once wavered from Gods word and promise. Even through the deepest valley, he was steadfast in his faith with God. Eric assured all, through his race in life, "God has got me, I am without fear, I am thankful, and I am blessed". Eric is survived by his parents Elaine and Paul, brothers Brian and Paul Junior, sisters Denise and Teri, children Evan, Allyson, and Alec, and his grandchildren Monroe, Simmons, and Beckham. Eric was preceded in death by his sister Laura. Eric was a devout Christian and preacher at the Forest Street Church of Christ in LaGrange, Ohio. Eric had an unwavering faith in God and inspired all of us with his faith, optimism, support, positivity, and humor. No matter the situation or challenge he would always bring a smile to your face. Eric was a devoted, loving, patient, and supportive father, creating forever lasting memories with his three children. Eric committed to donating blood after his son Alec was born. In the 23 years since he has given over 130 pints of blood to the American Red Cross. Eric was born in Elyria, Ohio and grew up in LaGrange. He graduated from Keystone High School in 1986 and Rose-Hulman Institute of Technology in Terre Haute, Indiana in 1990, with a Bachelor’s Degree in Civil Engineering. Eric made a career from his education until he was unable to work due to his diagnosis and treatments. Eric was an enthusiastic fan of sports, specifically his favorite Ohio teams. With the gift of remembering facts, dates, and endless information, he loved to share the details of every game and event. An athlete himself, Eric ran nine half marathons and many 5k races. Just this past November, in the midst of his cancer battle, he ran a 5k, placing 3rd in his age group. Eric was never in it for glory of winning medals though, Eric won by encouraging others along the way. Eric never considered anyone a stranger, as he was a spirited, loving, and a caring, social gentleman. Eric was also selfless and sincere in always wanting to know how friends and family were doing. The family would like to thank the doctors and medical personnel, caregivers, and friends, for your support and faithful prayers throughout his life and recent fight.
In honor of Eric’s commitment to giving blood, please consider a donation to the Red Cross or becoming a blood donor. Family will receive friends on Saturday, January 6, 2024 at the Laubenthal Mercado Funeral Home 38475 Chestnut Ridge Road (at State Route 57) in Elyria from 11 AM until the time of service at 1 PM. Burial will immediately follow at Brookdale Cemetery in Elyria. Online condolences may be expressed at www.laubenthalmercado.com
