Edward R. “Ed” Gross, 79, a long-time Grafton resident passed away peacefully with his loving wife by his side, Wednesday, May 10, 2023. He was surrounded by those who loved him deeply in the days prior to his departure from this earth. Ed was a man of integrity and kindness. He was a gentle man, and a man of few words. He didn’t need to speak much because his actions spoke loudly. Ed served in the United States Army stationed in West Germany (1962-1964) where he learned his trade. He spent most of his working career as an operator for Northern Ohio Sewer and was a lifetime member of the Ohio Operating Engineers Local 18. He was a mechanic for heavy machinery and semi trucks, but could weld, build and fix just about anything. Ed loved to be in “the shop”, especially when sharing his wealth of knowledge with his grandson. Survivors include his wife Dianne (nee-Eugene); son, Jamie (Melissa) Gross and grandson, Nick Edgar. Ed is also survived by four siblings and his beloved parakeet “Sweetie Pie”. Visitation will be held on Thursday May 18, 2023 from 5:00-7:00 p.m. at the Laubenthal-Mercado Funeral Home and Cremation Services 38475 Chestnut Ridge Rd. (at State Rt. 57), Elyria. Services will immediately follow at 7:00 p.m.. Rev. Aaron Griffiths will Offficiate. Online condolences may be expressed at www.laubenthalmercado.com
