Donald Edward Borowy Jr.

It is with great sadness that the Borowy family announces the death of Donald Edward Borowy Jr. He passed away unexpectedly at the age of 61 on November 12, 2022 surrounded by his wife, siblings, and parents. Donny was the 1st born of Don and Kathy Borowy in Elyria, OH on Oct. 12, 1961.  The Borowy family, being very close, spent summers camping at Clar-Mar with life-long friends and went on an annual family trip to Cedar Point! He attended Elyria Catholic High School Class of 1980, where he played football, basketball &cross country. As most know, Don’s education continued at Ohio University obtaining a bachelor’s degree and as well as master’s in accounting. His love of OU was so infectious that several family members followed and became Bobcats as well. Several jobs and moves later, he settled in Columbus, OH and completed his career as Bursar, Director of Treasure Services at Wright State University. He is survived by his wife, Claire and children, Hayden, Lilly, &Katie. Also, his parents Don & Kathy Borowy, brothers Brad (Kathy), Kevin (Molly), sister Ellen Casey (Brian), as well as nieces, nephews, and many friends. Don was preceded in death by his brother Brian and sister Jill (David) Gadke. The family will receive friends 4-7 PM Wednesday November 16, 2022 at The Laubenthal Mercado Funeral Home 38475 Chestnut Ridge Rd. (at State Rt. 57) Elyria (440) 322-4626. Mass of Christian Burial 10:00 AM Thursday November 17, 2022, at Our Lady Queen of Peace 708 Erie St, Grafton, OH 44044. The Reverend John P. Seabold, Pastor will be the Celebrant. Please meet at church. Burial will be at Brookdale Cemetery in Elyria. The family suggests that in lieu of flowers, memorial contributions be sent to The Susan G.
