Barbara Joan (Swisher) Gibbons

Barbara J. Gibbons, (nee-Swisher), 91, of Elyria passed away Saturday January 28, 2023 at U.H. Elyria Medical Center. She was born November 10, 1931 in Wellington and was an Elyria resident for most of her life. Barb was a member of St. Mary Catholic Church in Elyria. She helped working at the family business Gibby’s Restaurant in Elyria and enjoyed traveling and gambling. Survivors include her husband of 71 years, Richard “Dick” Gibbons; daughters, Judy (Craig) Petrus and Linda McEacheren; sons, Gary (Terri) Gibbons and Bradley Tackacs; 20 grandchildren; numerous  great-grandchildren and great-great grandchildren; sister, Mary Paceley; brother, Tom Swisher. She was preceded in death by her daughter, Sharon Bunch, son, Michael Gibbons, granddaughter, Tracy Petrus-Kenneally, grandson, Brent Petrus, sisters, Patricia Wolf and Rita Storrow and brother, Donald Swisher. The family will receive friends Wednesday 4:00-6:00 p.m. at the Laubenthal-Mercado Funeral Home and Cremation Services 38475 Chestnut Ridge Rd. (at State Rt. 57), Elyria. A Mass of Christian Burial will be at 10:00 a.m. Thursday February 2, 2023 at St. Mary Church 320 Middle Ave., Elyria. The Rev. Fr. Charles Diedrick, pastor, will be the Celebrant.
