Wilomene A. Koharik (nee Mole), 102. She passed away Saturday, June 26, 2021 in the same house she was born in on January 24, 1919 in Grafton Twp. and she was much LOVED. She graduated from Belden High School in 1936 earned a bachelor's degree from Kent State University and a master's degree from Bowling Green State University. She began teaching at Wellington Schools 1938-1940 followed by eleven years at Belden in the Midview School District. She retired in 1986 after teaching at Columbia Middle School 34 years for a career total of forty-five years. After retiring she substituted at St. Mark's in Brunswick and Columbia. She was a true Renaissance woman; a math major/teacher in her era, playing half court basketball and making half court shots the woman's way at Kent and playing the violin and piano. She wanted to major in art but her father said 'no' saying no jobs. She is well remembered by her many former students as a great math teacher and artist. Since 1942 she has been a member of Kappa Delta Pi an international Educational Honorary. Aside from Ohio Retired Teacher's Association she was associated with several professional organizations. She was a past member of Business Women's Club and Midview Women's Club. She also was the secretary to Grafton Village Historical Association. Among her numerous awards she earned Who's Who Among American Teacher's, Master Teacher of Ohio, Blue Book of distinguished Women, OSBA recognition of Exemplary Service to Education. Survivors include her daughter, Penny (Randy) Nemitz and four grandsons John Scott and Daniel (Beth) Koharik, Ian (Katie) Nemitz and Mike (leah) LeVay. Two granddaughters Tara (Gary) Kriegmont and Jayme (Paul) Robinson; 11 great grandchildren and 1 great-great grandson, Shane who made her laugh and smile; loving nieces and nephews Babe, Buck, Deb, Suzi, Kathy, Jimmy, Eddie and many wonderful great nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her Parents John and Irene (Nee Hammon) Mole, son JohnRobert (Barbara) Koharik; brother and sister-in-law Harland and Alice (Punky) Mole, foster brother Clayton Chevalia and the love of her later years Leroy Kubuske. Family will receive friends 5-8 PM Thursday, July 1, 2021 and 1PM until time of service at 2PM Friday, July 2, 2021 at the Laubenthal-Mercado Funeral Home and Cremation Service 38475 Chestnut Ridge Rd.
