William "Harry" Willis, Sr., 84, of Elyria, passed away on Tuesday, July 23, 2024 with his loving family by his side. Harry was born on August 2, 1939 in Ironton, Ohio to parents James P. and Vivian (nee: Robinson). He worked at Ford Motor Company in Lorain for 33 years and Brentwood Golf Club. Harry was a member of the Elyria Eagles Aerie 431 Club where he served as past worthy president and was a 3 term trustee, the AmVets Post 32, and the Elyria Polish Club. His hobbies included softball, bowling, golfing, camping and took pride in taking care of his lawn. Mostly he enjoyed his daily phone calls to his children, grandchildren or anyone who would answer their phone for that matter. He was also an avid Cleveland sports fan. Survivors include his wife of 66 years, Virginia (nee: Douglass); daughters, Kim Willis, Wendy (Michael) Pitts, Brenda Gooding, Terri (James) Wilson; son, Bill (Jeanine) Willis, Jr., 14 grandchildren and 30  great-grandchildren. He is preceded in death by his parents; sisters, Janet Wagner, Judy Willis, and Geneva Murnahan; brothers, James and Donald "Bud" Willis. Visitation will be held from 10 a.m. until the time of service at 12 noon on Saturday, July 27, 2024 at the Laubenthal Mercado Funeral Home and Cremation Services 38475 Chestnut Ridge Road (at State Route 57) Elyria, Ohio 44035. Reverend Father Charles T. Diedrick, Pastor of St. Mary Church will officiate. Burial will follow at St. Mary Cemetery in Elyria.
