Obituary

William E. "Bill" Svorec, 93, of Vermilion, passed away on Monday, September 2, 2024 at the Amherst Manor Care Nursing Home.  Bill was born in Lorain on December 19, 1930 to parents Stephan and Mary (nee: Holeick). After graduating from Lorain High School and serving in the US Army, he worked at the Rolling Mill at US Steel and retired there after 39 years. Bill was a jack of all trades. His skill set included being a mechanic, plumber, carpenter, electrician, and welder. He was always generous with his time in helping those who were in need of his skills. He was passionate about working and caring for his lawn. Survivors include his wife, Kathleen (nee: Krajec); daughters, Joan Price and Christine Svorec (Charles Scattone); sons, Karl Haefka (Deborah), John Haefka and many grandchildren and great-grandchildren.  He is preceded in death by his parents; son, Scott Haefka; sisters, Augustine Wigton, Mildred Paytosh, Olga Bruce; and brother, Steven Svorec. The family will have a private burial at Ridge Hill Memorial Park in Amherst at a later date. Online condolences may be expressed to the family at www.laubenthalmercado.com.
