William C. Lantz, 73, of Elyria passed away Thursday December 13, 2012 at Fairview General Hospital following a brief illness. He was born October 20, 1939 in Elyria and was a Elyria resident for most of his life. Bill was employed by the City of Elyria in the water distribution department retiring in 1996 after working for the city for 30 years. He was a member of St. Vincent DePaul Catholic Church in Elyria and enjoyed camping and fishing. Survivors include his wife of 46 years, Mary (nee-Cheevers); daughters, Mary Kay (Greg) Onderko and Kathy (Cliff) Simmons both of Elyria and Jennifer (Chris) Divis of Wilmington, DE.; 7 grandchildren; mother, Josephine Lantz of Elyria; brothers, Robert Lantz of Strongsville and Richard Lantz of Sun City, AZ.. He was preceded in death by his father, Park Lantz. The family will receive friends Sunday 1:00-4:00 p.m. at the Laubenthal-Mercado Funeral Home and Cremation Service 38475 Chestnut Ridge Rd. (at State Rt. 57), Elyria. Closing prayers will be Monday at 9:30 a.m. in the funeral home followed by a 10:00 a.m. Mass of Christian Burial at St. Vincent DePaul Church 41295 North Ridge Rd., Elyria. The Rev. Fr. Donald H. Dunson, pastor, will be the Celebrant. Burial will be at St. Mary Cemetery, Elyria. Memorial contributions can be made to the St. Vincent DePaul Building Fund.
