William Nicholas Kovach, 90, of Elyria passed away Tuesday, November 7, 2017at Ames Family Hospice in Westlake. He was born December 5, 1926 in Cleveland and a graduate of S. Amherst High School. William lived in South Amherst until he moved to Elyria when he married Evelyn Sittinger in 1948. He proudly served his Country in the Navy in the Seabees. William worked for American News in Lorain and was a manager for American News in Sandusky, he also worked for Ohio Edison for 32 years and retired from there in 1989. He was a member of IBEW, lifetime member of VFW post # 1079 and a member of St. Mary's in Elyria. He enjoyed traveling and especially being with family and friends .Survivors include his daughters Sandra Nagy of Elyria, and Jeanne Kovach of Chicago,IL; son Thomas (Patti) Kovach of Elyria; daughter-in-law Wanda Kovach;grandchildren Brian Nagy, Lisa (Nagy) Johnson, Katie (Kovach) Balog, and Audrey Kovach; great grandchildren Elek and Adler Nagy, Cole and Cameron Johnson, and Alli Balog; sister Mary Beebe of N. Olmsted; brother Frank (Sandra) Papp of Vermilion. He was preceded in death by his wife Evelyn Mae Kovach July 18, 2017; parents Frank Papp and Anna (Nee Boysa); son Robert; sisters Irene Malinowski and Veronica Quigley. Family will receive friends 6-8PM Thursday, November 9, 2017 and 1PM until time of service Friday , November 10, 2017at 2PM at the Laubenthal-Mercado Funeral Home and Cremation Service 38475 Chestnut Ridge Rd.
