William Earle Johnson, 93, of Elyria, passed away on November 25, 2022 at St. John Medical Center in Westlake. William was born on December 7, 1928 Earl and Florence (Fridenstine) Johnson in Elyria. He proudly served his country in the United States Army and later was employed as a teacher at Fairview High School. William was very active at Avon United Methodist church, in particular with helping to maintain the building and general maintenance. In his spare time, he enjoyed camping and vacationing with his grandchildren. Survivors include his daughter, Polly (Larry) Joppeck; grandchildren, Stacey Vilevac, Jacob Case, Sunny (Michael) Young, Jessica Oberg, Jennifer (Tony) Perry, William Johnson; daughter-in-law, Sandy Johnson-Comstock; eleven great-grandchildren and five great-great grandchildren, and many cousins. He is preceded in death by his wife, Norma Jean (nee: Rath); daughter, Wendy Vilevac; son, Stephen Johnson; and sister; Joyce Fridenstine. A graveside service will be held at 11 AM on December 9, 2022 at Ridgehill Memorial Park (Amherst Twp.), where full military honors will be provided by VFW post # 1079.
