William A. "Herk" Whitman, 70, of LaGrange passed away Friday August 14, 2015 at the Ames Family Hospice House in Westlake following a brief illness. He was born March 20, 1945 in Elyria and was a Lagrange resident for most of his life. Herk worked at the Parker-Hannifin Wheel and Brake Division in Avon as a Tool and Die Maker for many years, retiring in 2008. He was a member of the Elyria Manor Hunt Club and enjoyed fishing, camping, gardening and watching television. Survivors include his wife of 41 years, Cheryl (nee-Hartman); daughters, Lacie (John) Taylor of Glenville, WV. And Becky (Todd) Bailey of Normantown, WV.; grandchildren, Alexandra and Mikayla; sister, Bonnie Caladine of Elyria; brothers, Larry (Gail) Whitman of Wakeman, Ted (Sherry) Whitman of Elyria and Wayne Whitman of Berea. He was preceded in death by at brother, Paul Whitman. The family will receive friends Tuesday August 18, 2015 from 11:00 a.m. until the time of a Memorial Service at 12:00 p.m. at the Laubenthal-Mercado Funeral Home and Cremation Service 38475 Chestnut Ridge Rd. (at State Rt. 57), Elyria. The Rev. Fr. John P. Seabold, pastor of Our Lady Queen of Peace Catholic Church in Grafton will Officiate. Burial will be private.
