William L. "Bill" Connors Jr. 84 of Elyria passed away Saturday April 23, 2016 at Life Care Center of Elyria following a lengthy illness. He was born February 6 , 1932 in Lakewood and was a graduate of Cleveland West Tech High School. Bill moved to Elyria from Celeveland in 1961. He was employed as an air traffic controller for 30 years , the last 10 years as a team supervisor , upon his retirement he attended LCCC. William served his Country for 4 years in the Air Force during the Korean War. Bill was also a member of St. Mary Catholic Church where he served as an usher at the 4:30 mass. In his spare time Bill was an avid reader and relaxed by doing oil paintings. Bill was a member of American Legion post 12 , life member of Amvets post 32 , Elyria Moose 778 , auxillary member of VFW post 1079 and a social member of the Elyria United Polish Club. Survivors include his daughter Kathleen Jackson of Elyria , son William L. Connors III (Vicki Fritz) of Elyria , grandchildren Edward (Jacki) Jackson of Grafton , Michael Jackson (Melissa Patton ) of Wooster , and Christopher Jackson of Elyria , great-grandchildren Elizabeth and Jacob Jackson. He was preceded in death by his wife Ruth M. (nee Mucha) ,parents William L. Sr. and Agnes (nee Giblin). Family will receive friends 4-7 PM Tuesday April 26, 2016 at the Laubenthal-Mercado Funeral Home and Cremation Service 38475 Chestnut Ridge Rd. (at St. Rt. 57) Elyria. 440-322-4626. Closing Prayers will be 9:30 AM Wednesday April 27, 2016 in the funeral home , followed by a Mass of Christian Burial 10 AM at St. Mary Church 320 Middle Ave. Elyria, Ohio 44035. Rev. Fr.
