William “Bill” A. Kozman, 76, of Elyria, passed away shortly after midnight on Monday, March 23, 2026 at Ames Family Hospice House in the company of his loving wife. He was born in Cleveland on November 20, 1949 to parents Benjamin and Margaret (Bomba) Kozman.
Bill will be remembered as the very definition of a dad—steadfast, devoted, and endlessly supportive of those he loved. A proud member of St. Jude Parish, Bill carried his faith into every aspect of his life, guiding his family with strength, humility, and compassion.
A tremendous athlete, Bill played football at the University of Louisville, where his determination and team spirit left a lasting impression. He carried that same passion for sports into his community, dedicating his time as a Little League coach, where he mentored countless young athletes not only in the game, but in sportsmanship, discipline, and character.
Above all, Bill’s greatest joy was his family. A devoted husband, he built a life grounded in love and partnership. As a grandfather to twelve, he found immense pride and happiness in each of his grandchildren, never missing an opportunity to cheer them on, offer guidance, or share in their accomplishments. His presence was a constant source of strength, laughter, and wisdom.
Bill’s legacy lives on in the countless lives he touched—as a husband, father, grandfather, coach, and friend. He will be deeply missed and forever remembered.
Survivors include his wife of 40 years, Cynthia Ann (nee: Mayotte); daughters, Jennifer (John) Swift, Kristin (Patrick) Denney, Erin (Adrian) Gonzalez; son, Benjamin Kozman; brothers, David (Laura) Kozman, Steven Kozman; grandchildren, Chase, Jacob, John, Maddie, Lauren, Drew, Camden, Quin, Emma, Devin, Jayden, and Teagan.
Visitation will be held on Wednesday, April 1, 2026 from 4 p.m. until the time of service at 5 p.m. at the Laubenthal Mercado Funeral Home and Cremation Services 38475 Chestnut Ridge Road (at State Route 57) in Elyria.
