William F. "Bill" Carr, 80, of Elyria passed away Thursday May 23, 2013 at his home following a long illness. He was born January 18, 1933 in Flint, MI. and has been a Elyria resident since 1964. Bill worked for the Federal Aviation Administration as a Air Traffic Controller for 30 years, retiring in 1985. He served in the United States Air Force and was a member of St. Jude Catholic Church in Elyria. He was a avid sports fan and enjoyed listening to music and reading, especially about American and Irish history. Survivors include his wife, Marilyn (nee-Yeakel); daughters, Maureen (Paul) St. Marie, Mary Carr, Judy (Chris) Hayes, all of Elyria, Diane (Brian) Corrigan of Lakewood and Eileen (Jeff) Davis of Solon; grandchildren, Stephen, Sarah and Melanie St. Marie, Juliet and Danny Corrigan, Megan and Scott Lilly, Connor, Kelly and Brian Davis, and Kevin and Sean Hayes; sisters, Mary Ellen Pierce and Elizabeth Ann Carr, both of Flint, MI.; brothers, Michael Carr of Grand Blanc, MI., David Carr of Flushing, MI., and Joseph Carr of Flint, MI.. He was preceded in death by a brother, Douglas Carr. There will be no visitation. A Mass of Christian Burial will be Tuesday May 28, 2013 at 11:00 a.m. at St. Jude Church 590 Poplar St., Elyria. The Rev. Fr. Frank P. Kosem, pastor, will be the Celebrant. Burial will be at St. Joseph Cemetery, Avon. In liue of flowers, memorial contributions can be made to New Life Hospice 3500 Kolbe Rd.
