William L."Bill" Banks, 75, of Carlisle Township passed away on January 13, 2019 at Ames Family Hospice House. He was a graduate of Midview High School, class of 1962. Bill retired from Ford Motor Company, where he was a member of the UAW Local 2001, and served as a Trustee for many years. He was also a member of the Moose Lodge # 778 (Elyria), the United Polish Club (Elyria), the VFW Post # 3341 (Grafton), H.O.G. (Harley Owners Group), the Beaver Creek Sportsman Club, the NRA, and Black River Masonic Lodge #786 F & AM. Bill was an avid hunter, fisherman, and motorhead. He also enjoyed woodworking. His most enjoyable memories were made at local oval race tracks where he was a mechanic and driver of his own car. His red and white car number 141 could be seen racing most Saturday nights. Survivors include his wife of 48 years Marie (nee Hurd); step daughter Chris (Bill) Cromling of Grafton; son Bill (Chrystal) Banks of Indiana; daughter Kimberly Banks-Johnson of Grafton; 13 grandchildren; 1 great-grandchild to arrive in April and two 4-legged children Butch and Tootsie Roll. He was preceded in death by his parents Howard and Velda Banks (nee Davidson); brother Jim ; special cousin Frank.Family will receive friends 4-8 PM Friday, January 18, 2019 at the Laubenthal-Mercado Funeral Home and Cremation Service 38475 Chestnut Ridge Rd. (at St. Rt. 57), Elyria 440-322-4626, where a Masonic service will be held at 7:30 PM by Black River Lodge #786 F. & AM. Burial Private.
