Willard A. Sayers, 86, of Elyria passed away Monday, September 24, 2018 at University Hospital Elyria Medical Center following a long illness. He was born December 27, 1931 in N. Ridgeville and was a graduate of N. Ridgeville High School. Willard worked for the Grafton Correctional Institution. He was a member of Sugar Ridge Baptist Church , Lyndon Order of Eastern Star #361, Harrisville Masonic Lodge # 137 Lodi, and he enjoyed camping, hunting, fishing, all Cleveland sports teams and had a great love of family. Survivors include his daughters Sharon Booth, Susan (David) Herb both of Elyria; sons Donald (Colleen) of Elyria, Willard (Kimberly), of Sheffield Village; grandchildren David (Jill) Booth, Valerie Booth, Kristie Sayers, Brandi Herb, Ryan (Elena) Sayers, Michael Herb, Matthew Herb, Brandon Sayers, Ashley Sayers; 8 great grandchildren; 1 great-great granddaughter; sister Jean Bauer of Valley City. He was preceded in death his wife whom he was married to for 60 years Barbara (nee Carman) ; his parents Aaron and Maude Sayers (nee Faulkner); sisters Joyce Gunther, Joanie Hales; brother Ted. Family will receive friends 4-7 PM Friday, September 28, 2018 at the Laubenthal-Mercado Funeral Home and Cremation Service 38475 Chestnut Ridge Rd. (at St. Rt. 57), Elyria 440-322-4626, with a 6:30 PM Lyndon Chapter Order of Eastern Star Services. Funeral services will be held 11 AM Saturday, September 29, 2018.
