Warren R. "Roy" Smith 80, of Sullivan (formerly of Elyria) passed away Sunday April 4, 2021 at The Elms Retirement Village in Wellington following a long illness. He was born March 24, 1941 in Elyria. Roy was the owner of Smith Sunoco in Elyria, he enjoyed oval track racing, gardening, and was an avid Ohio sports fan. Survivors include a daughter; Michelle Lax of Colorado, three sons; David Smith of Sullivan, Richard Smith (Wendi) of Georgia, Ross Kinter of Grafton. Additional survivors include twenty two grandchildren, eighteen great grandchildren, and a brother; Kenneth Smith (Sonja) of Amherst. Roy was preceded in death by a son; Shannon Smith (Barb), his parents; Carlton and Helen (nee: Nyland), two sisters; Carol Denninger, Donna Franklin, and four brothers; Russell, Bob (Kathleen), Richard (Karen), and infant William B. Funeral services are 11:00 AM Wednesday April 14, 2021 at The Laubenthal Mercado Funeral Home 38475 Chestnut Ridge Rd. (at State Rt. 57) Elyria (440)322-4626 where the family will receive friends from 10:00 AM until time of services at 11:00 AM on Wednesday. Pastor Melvin Sayler will officiate.
