Walter Gordon Ryan 86 of Elyria passed away Tuesday April 18, 2017 at University Hospitals Elyria Medical Center following a lengthy illness. He was born July 17, 1930 in Elyria. Walter was the owner of Ryan Appliance in Elyria. He was a member of Church of the Open Door, Amvets # 32 and was a Air Force Veteran during Korea. Walter was a bible teacher , enjoyed writing, traveling and especially loved his grandkids and great-grandkids. Survivors include his wife of 57 years Linda Jane (nee Oliver); daughter Dianne (Kia) Kohan of Dallas, TX; son Gregory (Kris) of Denver, CO.; 4 grandchildren; 2 great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his sisters Dorothy( Howard) Faribault and Ethel( Russ) Chamberlain; brother Clyde (Harriet) Ryan. Family will receive friends Monday April 24, 2017 from 3PM until time of Celebration of Life at 5PM at the Laubenthal-Mercado Funeral Home and Cremation Service 38475 Chestnut Ridge Rd. (at St. Rt. 57),Elyria 440-322-4626, where full military honors will be provided by VFW post # 1079. Pastor Bob Wickens from Church of the Open Door will officiate. Burial Private.
