Walter J. Rader, 91, of Grafton passed away Wednesday February 17, 2016 at Keystone Pointe in LaGrange following a brief illness. He was born October 4, 1924 in Elyria and was a lifelong Grafton resident. Walt worked as a carpenter for 35 years at the former Grafton Lumber Company, retiring in 1989. A W.W. II United States Army veteran, he was also a well known local farmer for many years and raised and trained Harness Racing horses. Survivors include his wife of 68 years, Marie (Rausher); son, David (Robbie) Rader of Kingwood, TX.; 5 grandchildren; 3 great-grandchildren and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by 4 sisters and 5 brothers. The family will receive friends Sunday 1:00-4:00 p.m. at the Laubenthal-Mercado Funeral Home and Cremation Service 38475 Chestnut Ridge Rd. (at State Rt. 57), Elyria. Services will be Monday February 22, 2016 at 11:30 a.m. in the Funeral Home. The Rev. Chuck Behrens, Chaplain of the Hospice of the Western Reserve will Officiate.
