Virgil R. "Ray" Sanders, 86, of Vermilion passed away Tuesday April 14, 2015 at Kingston of Vermilion following a brief illness. He was born May 17, 1928 in Everett, WA. And was a Lorain resident for most of his life. Ray retired as a machine operator at Wateredge Uniflex in Avon Lake where he worked for many years. He served in the United States Navy during W.W. II and was a member of the Avon Lake American Legion Post 211. Survivors include his daughters, Pamela Verhoff of Vermilion, Tammie Sanders of Lakewood, and Angela Spence and Janet Sanders both of Louisville, KY.; sons, Larry Sanders of Kent, Michael Sanders of Norwalk and Gregory Sanders of Elyria; 12 grandchildren and many great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his wife Bonnie in 1988. There will be no visitation. A Celebration of Life Gathering will be 11:00 a.m. Saturday April 18, 2015 at the Vermilion AMVETS Post 22, 1517 State Road, Vermilion. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions can be made to the charity of the donor's choice.
