Violet M. "Vi" Phillips, (nee-Black), 82, of Elyria passed away Sunday August 5, 2012 at Keystone Pointe in LaGrange following a long illness. She was born September 22, 1929 in Marion, PA. and was a Elyria resident for most of her life. She worked at the Elyria Elks Lodge as a cook for 20 years, retiring in 2007. Prior to that she worked at the former Mac's Restaurant in downtown Elyria. Vi was a member of the Elyria Elks Lodge #465 and the American Legion Post 12 Auxiliary and enjoyed cooking and collecting cook books. Survivors include her son, Richard "Rick" (Mary) Phillips of Elyria; 4 grandchildren; 1 great-grandchild. She was preceded in death by her husband Glen in 2002 and a daughter, Peggy Liebig. The family will receive friends Wednesday 4:00- 7:00 p.m. at the Laubenthal-Mercado Funeral Home and Cremation Service 38475 Chestnut Ridge Rd. (at State Rt. 57), Elyria.
