Viola Helen Vanche (nee: Puskas) 89, of Elyria went home to be with the Lord from LifeCare of Elyria on Wednesday January 11, 2017. She was born May 12, 1927 in Lorain. Viola was a member of Cross Community Church. She enjoyed ceramics, teaching ceramics, cooking, baking, and was a gifted painter. Viola was best known as "Grandma Honey". Survivors include three daughters; Kathleen B. Aulisio (Nick) of Elyria, Alice E. Rosenthal (Hubert) of Elyria, Beth Ann Simboli of Elyria, and a son; Alex "Chip" Vanche of Fairhope, AL. Additional survivors include ten grandchildren, thirteen great grandchildren, three sisters; Margaret Bowers of Amherst, Mary Louise Ellison of Elyria, Dolores Yonkings of Elyria. Viola was preceded in death by a daughter; Peggy Lamoreaux, her parents; George and Elizabeth (nee: Stumphauzer) Puskas, and three brothers; William, George, and Ernie Puskas. Funeral services 1:00 PM Friday January 13, 2017 at The Laubenthal-Mercado Funeral Home and Cremation Services 38475 Chestnut Ridge Rd. (at State Rt. 57) Elyria (440)322-4626 where the family will receive friends from 11:00 AM until time of services at 1:00 PM on Friday. Burial will be at Brookdale Cemetery in Elyria.
