Verna A. Sabo (nee: Dobrowski) 88, of Elyria passed away Friday October 14, 2022 at University Hospitals Elyria Medical Center following a long illness. She was born May 2, 1934 in Elyria.  Verna was a 1952 Elyria Catholic High School graduate, and a member of St. Jude Church.  She had worked at Hills Department Store and was Head Cashier and an Auditor. Verna bowled in several leagues when she was younger, and enjoyed watching sports and game shows on television, playing bingo, cards, and traveling to casinos.  Survivors include three daughters; Carol A. Sabo , Debbie L. Neri (Michael), Terese M. Sabo all of Elyria, a son; Robert A. Sabo of Texas.  Additional survivors include seven grandchildren; Alex Sabo, Kate Sabo, Angela Sabo, John Hayes, Stacey Hayes, Kevin Sabo, and Nicole Neri, many great grandchildren, two sisters; Mary Rybarcyk and Anna Bycynski both of Elyria.  Verna was preceded in death by her husband; Richard L. Sabo, two sons; Joseph and Richard Mark Sabo, her parents; John and Josephine (nee: Kruszewski) Dobrowski, five sisters; Sophie Golski, Teheresa Dyckowski, Pauline Cyran, Stella Majka, Genevieve Bedock, three brothers; Ernie Dobrowski, Dr. Stanley Dobrowski M.D., Joseph Dobrowski.  Per Verna's request there will be no visitation. Mass of Christian Burial will be 11:00 AM Thursday October 20, 2022 at St. Jude Church 590 Poplar St. Elyria.  The Reverend Father Joseph Scalco, CSJ, Pastor will be the Celebrant.  (PLEASE MEET AT CHURCH) Burial will be at St. Mary Cemetery in Elyria.
