Vera Marguerite Carpenter (nee Cox), 94, passed away Wednesday, June 30, 2021 at Abbewood in Elyria. She was born June 14, 1927 in Letter Gap, WV., the youngest of 10 children born to Rev. Friend H. and Clara Grace Cox. She lived in Lorain County since the 1940's. Vera graduated from Normantown High School and was a member of Elyria Baptist Church. She was employed at LaGrange Screw Products before her retirement. She enjoyed Country and Gospel music. Survivors include her daughter, Dianne (Ken) Schmidt of Grafton; son, Timothy (Mary) Carpenter of Alachua, FL.; grandchildren Laura (CJ) Wowk, Susan Skalba, Nicholas Carpenter, and Matthew Carpenter; great grandchildren, William Wowk, Paige Wowk, Gabrielle Skalba, Allison Skalba, Lillian Carpenter and Madison Carpenter. She was preceded in death by her husband of 64 years James in 2010; daughter Shelley in 1989 and all of her siblings. A private graveside service was held at River Rd. Cemetery (LaGrange).
