Vanessa E. Katz, (nee-Yvonne D. Shoemaker), 72, of Elyria passed away Thursday July 22, 2021. She was born August 1, 1948 in Dayton, spent her career as a Registered Nurse and also a Social Worker and loved animals. Survivors include her husband, James "Jim" Minnery; daughters, Jennifer and Valerie; grandchildren, Jared, Shelby and Brennan and great-grandchild, Evan. All services and burial will be private. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions can be made to the Friendship Animal Protective League 8303 North Murray Ridge Rd. Elyria, OH. 44035. The Laubenthal-Mercado Funeral Home and Cremation Services 38475 Chestnut Ridge Rd., Elyria assisted the family. Online condolences may be expressed at www.laubenthalmercado.com
