Ursula M. Plas (nee Buller), passed away March 9th 2022 at home surrounded by her family. Born August 15, 1937 in Nordenham Germany she emigrated to the United States in 1956. Ursula was a talented athlete competing in high handball, pommel horse, uneven bars, rhythmic gymnastics, sprints, discus, javelin, high jump, and was the North German region champion in shotput. She began coaching gymnastics at the age of 14. Ursula volunteered her time as the 7th and 8th grade gym teacher for St. Mary School Elyria for 16 years. She coached CYO gymnastics, a summertime free gymnastics program, and was a long time CYO volleyball referee. Ursula was a girl scout leader, member of the Liedertafel Club, and Isabella Guild. She was an avid bowler and played golf for 30 years. Ursula was preceded in death by her father Hans Buller, mother Lilli Buller (nee: Peper), brother Ewald Buller. She is survived by Donald J. Plas her husband of 62 Years, brother Karl-Heinz Buller (Brigitta), children Diane Darrow (Ron), Karen Woods (Dave), Paul Plas (Christine), Amy Tomasheski (Todd), ten grandchildren, and seven great grandchildren. The family will receive friends from 1-4 PM on Sunday March 13, 2022 at The Laubenthal Mercado Funeral Home 38475 Chestnut Ridge Rd. (at State Rt. 57) Elyria (440)322-4626. Mass of Christian Burial will be 11:00 AM Monday March 14, 2022 at Our Lady Queen of Peace Catholic Church 708 Erie St. Grafton, Ohio 44044. Please meet at church. The Reverend Father John P. Seabold, Pastor will be the Celebrant. Burial will be private at St. Mary Cemetery in Grafton. The family suggests that memorial contributions in Ursula's memory be sent to Our Lady Queen of Peace Church Endowment Fund.
