Timothy Jay
Flaherty
Apr 16, 1948 — Jul 9, 2026
Timothy J. Flaherty, 78, passed away peacefully on July 9, 2026. Born on April 16, 1948, in Amherst, Ohio, Tim lived a life defined by hard work, service, laughter, and a love for family, friends, and sports.
Tim proudly served his country in the United States Army before building a career as a truck driver for Lorain Creamery, Mamma Joe’s Pies, and most recently West River Florist. A lifelong fan of Cleveland sports, the Elyria Pioneers, and the Massillon Tigers, Tim loved athletics from an early age. He played many sports growing up and later shared that passion by coaching girls’ track and cross country. He was known for making people laugh, his incredible knowledge of sports and trivia, and the kindness he showed to everyone he met.
Tim is survived by his loving sister, Sandy and her husband, James; his longtime partner, Kitty Cook; his niece, Laura and her husband, Matt; his nephew, Jimbo and his wife, Mary; his great-niece, Lindsay; along with many extended family members and dear friends who will miss him deeply.
Family and friends are invited to celebrate Tim’s life on Wednesday, July 15, 2026, from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. At the Foundry 525 Broad Street, Elyria, Ohio. In honor of Tim’s lifelong love of sports, guests are encouraged to wear their favorite sports team shirt to celebrate his life. Memorial contributions may be made to the Elyria High Athletic Boosters in Tim’s memory.
