Timothy A. Cole

Timothy A. Cole, 74, of Elyria, Ohio, passed away on August 20, 2026, at University Hospitals in Elyria. He was born on September 13, 1951 in Elyria and was a lifelong resident.

Tim was preceded in death by his beloved wife of 38 years, Kathleen “Kathy” Cole. Together, Tim and Kathy enjoyed entertaining family and friends in their home.

After more than 40 years of dedicated service, Tim retired from RIDGID Tool in Elyria where he worked as a Quality Control Engineer. He graduated from Elyria Catholic and was a member of St. Mary Catholic Church. He was also a longtime member of the Elyria Elks and the Knights of Columbus—memberships in which he took great pride. Tim enjoyed helping and planning fundraisers/community events which included comedy nights and Jimmy Buffett-themed parties.

Tim loved telling stories and jokes and adored his canine companions over the years.

Christmas held a particularly special place in Tim’s heart. Each year, he created an elaborate lighted Christmas village in his basement, featuring hundreds of pieces. The display reflected the joy, compassion, and sense of celebration that Tim brought to the lives of those around him.

Tim will be remembered for his generosity, his wonderful stories, sense of humor, and his ability to bring people together. Two of his favorite sayings—“Seize the day” and “It is what it is”—captured the straightforward and spirited way in which he approached life.

Tim is survived by his brothers, Jeff Cole of Elyria and Mark Cole of Cleveland.

Visitation will be held on Saturday, August 29, 2026 at 10:00 a.m. in the Weigand Room at Saint Mary Catholic Church 320 Middle Ave in Elyria. Mass of Christian Burial will follow at 11:00 a.m. Reverend Father Charles T. Diedrick, Pastor will be the Celebrant. A private burial at Saint Mary Cemetery in Elyria will take place at a later date. Memorial contributions in Timothy's name can be sent to the St. Mary Catholic Church Helping Hands Ministry.
