Timothy V. Boylan, 77, of Elyria passed away Tuesday December 1, 2015 at Hillcrest Hospital in Mayfield Heights following a sudden illness. He was born July 30, 1938 in Elyria and was a lifelong Elyria resident. Tim worked for the Ohio State Board of Career Colleges and Schools as a consultant for 25 years. He also retired in 1990 as the Director of Admissions and Records at Lorain County Community College, where he worked for 25 years. He was a member of St. Mary Catholic Church in Elyria where he served as a usher and was involved in the Hot Meals program. He also served on the boards of the Neighborhood Center, Lorain County Children's Services and the Elyria Sports Hall of Fame. Tim was a graduate of St. Ignatius High School, Xavier University where he lettered in varsity baseball and John Carroll University and was a "honorary" graduate of Elyria Catholic High School. He was a member of the Elyria Elks Lodge #778, the Elyria United Polish Club and was a active with the Christian Family Movement. He was very proud of his involvement as a Lorain County Poll worker, Tim formerly served as a OHSAA official, and enjoyed playing tennis and golf and was avid sports fan especially those involving his grandchildren. Survivors include his wife of 54 years, Kathryn (nee-Carnes); daughters, Mary (Mike) Mason of Galena, OH. And Anne (Michael) Hart of Bay Village; son, John (Diane) Boylan of Cleveland; grandchildren, Ben, Zach, David, Gabby, Bridget, Meredith, Sam, Nathan and Mia. He was preceded in death by his parents, T.V. Boylan D.D.S. and Kathleen Boylan and a sister, Patricia Ronan. The family will receive friends Sunday 1:00-4:00 p.m. at the Laubenthal-Mercado Funeral Home and Cremation Service 38475 Chestnut Ridge Rd. (at State Rt. 57) Elyria. Mass of Christian Burial will be at 12 noon on Monday December 7, 2015 at St. Mary Church 320 middle Ave., Elyria. (please meet at church). The Rev. Charles Diedrick, pastor, will be the Celebrant. Burial will be at St. Mary Cemetery, Elyria. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to St. Mary School 320 Middle Ave., Elyria.
