IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Tim
Wallace
July 26, 1949 – March 29, 2015
Tim Wallace passed away Sunday March 29, 2015 at Ames Family Hospice in Westlake following a protracted battle with lymphoma. A lifelong resident of Elyria, Tim was a noted composer, artist and musician who has been a major influence on local folk music for the past half-century. He formed and led the Irish folk group "The Hooligans" in the 1980's and was a founding member of the popular and renowned Northeast Ohio group, "The Smokin Fez Monkeys" (www.smokinfezmonkeys.com) who perform both locally and internationally. Tim started playing guitar at age 15 and has been part of many other performing groups over the years, and generously supported his peers and mentored young musicians, providing direction, support and performance opportunities by working to create and maintain folk music festivals and other venues where the art of the singer-songwriter could be appreciated. He also produced art and graphics for other performers which became their trademarks and participated in many benefit and tribute concerts for performers who had passed away or for their families who may have needed help. During his final two weeks in residence at the Ames Family Hospice his family, friends and countless musicians whose lives he has touched visited in a non-stop, fourteen day music, laughter and loved filled event that has become known as "Timstock". In lieu of others tributes, and in accordance with Tim's wishes, please make contributions to the Tim Wallace Music Fund administered by the Community Foundation of Lorain County (www.peoplewhocare.org). The fund will continue Tim's life work and will support the Troubadour musical tradition of individual singer-songwriters that he exemplified. Funeral arrangements are private and have been entrusted to the Laubenthal-Mercado Funeral and Cremation Service of Elyria. Online condolences may be expressed at www.laubenthalmercado.com.
