Thomas Edward Zimmer, 54, of Elyria passed away March 10, 2018 at University Hospital in Amherst. Tom, known by those closest to him as "Zim", was born February 22, 1964 in Mobile, AL. to parents Donald and Janet Zimmer. After moving to Ohio at a very young age, Tom had made the Lorain County area his and his family's home for nearly his entire life. Tom was a graduate of the class of 1982 at Elyria Catholic High School and also a proud member of both the Knights of Columbus Council 774 and the V.F.W. Post 1079. He was larger than life and loved spending time with his family, friends and his grandson. Tom was a passionate sports fan who never missed an Alabama Football game (Roll Tide!) and was a baseball fanatic and enjoyed traveling to watch spring training games. He leaves to cherish his memory his wife, Cynthia (nee-Toth); daughters, Tana Zimmer, Jennifer (Nate) Hite, Denise (PJ) Schlosser; mother, Janet Zimmer (nee-Praznik); grandmother, Ethel Praznik; sister, Sharon (Frank) Goscewski; brother, Michael Zimmer; grandson, Royce Schlosser. Tom was preceded in death by his father, Donald Zimmer in 2003 and his grandfather, Ignatius "Tom" Praznik in 2010. The family welcomes friends to join them in a Celebration of Life Gathering at the Knights of Columbus Hall 118 Kipling St., Elyria on Saturday March 24th from 5:00-9:00 p.m..
