Thomas E. Kilpatrick, 87, of Elyria passed away Thursday at the Lifecare Center of Elyria following a brief illness. He was born February 8, 1925 in Wellsburg,, WV. And lived in the Grafton/Elyria area for most of his life. Tom worked as a machine operator at the former Bendix-Westinghouse in Elyria for 31 years, retiring in 1983. During that time he also worked as a tile setter for 55 years. He served in the United States Marine Corps during W.W. II, spending time in Okinawa, was a past commander of V.F.W. Post 1079 in Elyria and enjoyed bowling, golfing, dancing, singing, and playing music. Survivors include his companion, Doris Matthews of Elyria; sons, Patrick M. (Holly) Kilpatrick of Amherst, Thomas H. (Patty) Kilpatrick of Ravenna and Kerry C. (Michele) Kilpatrick of Medina; 6 grandchildren; 7 great-grandchildren; sister, June Coulter of Follansbee, WV.; brother, Robert Kilpatrick of Wintersville, OH.. He was preceded in death by a sister, Dorothy Wilson. The family will receive friends Sunday 2:00-4:00 p.m. at the Laubenthal-Mercado Funeral Home 38475 Chestnut Ridge Ridge Rd. (at State Rt. 57), Elyria. 440-322-4626 where members of V.F.W. Post 1079 will conduct full military honors at 4:00 p.m.. Burial will be private.
