Therese M. Solet (nee Dyczkowski), 88, of Elyria passed away Friday, July 29, 2016 at University Hospitals Parma Medical Center Seasons of Life Hospice from complications of advanced Parkinson's Disease. She was born in Lorain, Ohio, at home, to loving parents Leo and Josephine (nee Karolak) Dyczkowski on December 20, 1927. Growing up in Lorain, Therese attended Nativity of the Blessed Virgin Mary Parish. She went to Nativity grade school, Hawthorne Middle School and graduated from Lorain High School Class of 1945-B. She sang in the Nativity choir and the choir of St. Peter's Church on West 17th Street, Lorain; played basketball and softball, and bowled in a league. Excelling in math and finances, she attended Lorain Business College. In Lorain, Therese worked at Sutter's Soda Shop and Antlers Hotel as a waitress. An excellent and inspired seamstress, she taught sewing at Singer Sewing. She also worked at the Pubic Finance Company, Ohio Edison and General Industry in Elyria. Therese was married February 20, 1960 to her beloved, Stephen E. Solet and lived from then on for 56 years in their newlywed home in Elyria. She raised two daughters with all her heart and soul always. After being a homemaker for 18 years, Therese worked for Lorain County Job and Family Services as an accounting clerk retiring at the age of 74 after 24 years of service. She was a member of OPERS, PERI Local Chapter #83 and UAW Local 2192. She also sewed for others. In Elyria, Therese was a member of Holy Cross Parish and St. Mary, Our Lady of the Assumption Parish. She was a member of the Holy Cross Altar and Rosary Society and sang in the choirs of Holy Cross, St. Mary, and Lorain County Community College. A devoted Catholic, kind to all especially those in most need, Therese was a Secular Franciscan member of the St. Anthony Fraternity. Of Polish heritage, Therese was an honorary member of the United Polish Club in Elyria, and prior member of the Lorain Polish Club. She was a long standing member of the Elyria Women's Club (EWC) which she enjoyed so very much. Therese and her husband Steve cooked the first EWC spaghetti dinner in their own home. She was a former member of the Elyria Musical Arts Society and Beta Sigma Phi Sorority, friend of Women's Senior Fellowship, Project Joy, supporter of Birth Right and other right to life groups. Therese was involved and informed in politics, especially at the local level. Fellowship, bus trips, spiritual and informative reading, fashion design, sewing, upholstery, interior design, theater, music, and playing the piano taught to her by her mother were some of her hobbies. Most precious to her was all her family and her Catholic Faith and prayer. Survivors include her two daughters, Mary Jo Leeper (Michael) of Elyria and Ann Marie Smeraldi (Jon) of Elyria, one grandson Nicholas Smeraldi of Elyria, one step-grandson Michael Leeper of Columbia, MD, one step-granddaughter Brittany Lorello (Chris) of Elyria, two great grand stepdaughters Lily Marie of Columbia, MD and Madison Josephine of Elyria, two godsons, nephews, nieces and a sister-in-law. In addition to her parents, Therese was preceded in death by her most loving husband Stephen E. Solet in 1996; brothers Paul, Leo, baby James and Raymond Dyczkowski, sisters Rita Bennett, Marie Waldecki and Agnes (Vicki) Haneckow. The family will receive family and friends Tuesday, August 2, 2016, 4:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at the Laubenthal - Mercado Funeral Home and Cremation Service 38475 Chestnut Ridge Road (off State Rte. 57), Elyria. Closing prayers will be Wednesday August 3, 2016 at 9:30 a.m. in the funeral home, followed by a 10:00 a.m. Mass of Christian Burial at St. Mary Church, 320 Middle Ave., Elyria. The Rev. Fr.
