Terrance (Terry) D. Shipula passed after a short illness. He was born on June 4, 1952 in Elyria, Ohio where he remained a lifelong resident. He was a 1970 graduate of Elyria High School. He became a machinist by trade for K & S Tool, Bettcher Industries, and ADI Machining, which he retired from after 34 years. He had a passion for farming that began in his youth at the family farm. In 1985, while still working as a full time machinist, he took over the day to day operations. He continued with the same commitment to the land, hard work, and customer relationship. He was a devoted Cleveland Indians and Browns fan, even having been a season ticket holder of seats in the Dawg Pound for 10 years. He was a pillar of the Elyria Township Community and also a well trusted mentor to many local farmers. Terry was an avid outdoorsman, enjoying cross country skiing, hunting, and trap shooting. Terry, with the help of many friends and family, built a cabin in the Upper Peninsula of Michigan. He also had a love for photography as a hobby. He was a skilled machinist and mechanic that could solve any mechanical problem that arose on the farm. He was an active member for all of his 72 years at St. Vincent de Paul Parish in Elyria. He took his love and knowledge of gardening and helped the parish start the Father Gaetano Love Grows garden which he help maintain for about 5 years. Terry is survived by his loving wife of 45 years, Mary Ann (nee: Karbowniczek); sisters, Mary Roling and Theresa Grills, and his brother, Larry Shipula, and many nieces, nephews, and beloved dog, Lily. He was preceded in death by his parents, Steve and Mary Shipula, and his sister, Dorothy Parker.

Visitation will be held on Wednesday, August 21, 2024 from 4 p.m. -7 p.m. at the Laubenthal Mercado Funeral Home and Cremation Services 38475 Chestnut Ridge Road (at State Route 57) in Elyria. Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10 a.m. on Thursday, August 22, 2024 at Saint Vincent de Paul Catholic Church 41295 North Ridge Road in Elyria (PLEASE MEET AT CHURCH) Reverend Father Neil Walters, Pastor will officiate. Burial will follow at Saint Mary Cemetery in Elyria. In lieu of flowers, contributions in Terry's name can be made to the church or to the Friendship APL 8303 Murray Ridge Road Elyria, Ohio 44035.
