Teresa Ann Szymen

Our world is a little less bright with the passing of Teresa Szymen on September 11, 2026 surrounded by her family. She was born on March 13, 1952, in Elyria, Ohio to John and Dolores Gidich. She grew up on in Elyria and graduated from Elyria Catholic High School 1970.

Teresa embarked on a remarkable journey of service and care when she chose to become a Licensed Practical Nurse, a career she embraced with passion and dedication for 48 years. Her gentle touch and empathetic nature left an indelible mark on those she cared for, reflecting her deep commitment to serving others.

Teresa's life was enriched by her loving family. Her husband, Raymond Szymen. Teresa was the proud mother of three children: Jennifer Nix (Lyczkowski), Richard Ryan Lyczkowski and his wife Trish, and David Lyczkowski. Her family expanded with the joy of her three grandchildren, Rachael Nix, Mya and Tessa Lintner, and her great-granddaughter, Elena Contreras, who was the light of her life. She is survived by many nieces and nephews.

Beyond her family, Teresa was a cherished friend to many, including her close friend/sister Sandra Ferguson. Her friendships were marked by her warmth, humor, and unwavering support, qualities that endeared her to all who knew her.

As we celebrate Teresa's life, we are reminded of her kindness, her strength, and the love she shared so freely with those around her. Her legacy will continue to inspire and uplift all who had the privilege of knowing her.

Teresa was preceded in death by her parents John and Dolores Gidich, and brother and sister-in-law David Gidich and Donna Gidich.

While Teresa's presence in this world continues to be a blessing, her family has elected to hold a private ceremony to honor her life and legacy. In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests that donations be made to Susan G. Komen, an organization close to Teresa's heart, reflecting her enduring spirit of giving. A Celebration of Life will be announced at a later date.
