Sylvia Rose Ignasik, 87, of Elyria passed away Wednesday, September 28, 2022 at her home. She was born August 2, 1935 in New Castle, PA to John and Rose (nee Green) NcCormick. Sylvia worked as a Registered Nurse at Fairview Hospital for many years. She helped organize estate sales and volunteered at the blood bank in Elyria after her retirement. Sylvia was an associate member of VFW post #1079 in Elyria and a member of Our Lady Queen of Peace Church in Grafton. Her family would like to extend a special "Thank You" to Infinite Helping Hands, LLC, Southern Hospice, Sue Duelley, LPN; Father John Seabold; neighbors, Bob and Linda Elek, and Sue and Brian Sullivan. Survivors include her sister, Marlene (Charles) Stoddard of Pulaski, PA; brother, Jon (Sandy) McCormick of Denver, CO, and several nieces and nephews. She is preceded in death by her beloved husband, Donald in 2018; twin sister, Shirley Tunelius and sister, June Miller. Family will receive friends from 11 AM until time of service at 1 PM Saturday, October 1, 2022 at the Laubenthal-Mercado Funeral Home and Cremation Service 38475 Chestnut Ridge Rd. (at St. Rt. 57), Elyria 440-322-4626. Rev. Fr. Charles Diedrick will officiate. Burial will be in Ridgehill Memorial Park (Amherst Twp.).
