Sylvia Jane Gormley, (nee-Kaszubinski), 87, Peacefully passed away on Monday May 18, 2026 surrounded by her loving family. Sylvia was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and a devout Catholic whose kindness and love touched many lives.

She was born on July 22, 1938 in Elyria and was an Elyria resident for most of her life. She was a 1956 graduate of Elyria Catholic High School. She worked previously at BW Credit Union, Auto Acessories Credit Union, Lear Siegler Inc., City of Elyria and Dr. John Secrist’s where she retired after 17 years. She was a member of St. Mary’s Church and formerly Holy Cross of Elyria. Sylvia’s faith was an important part of her life.

Sylvia was married to Charles “Chuck” G. Gormley for 48 wonderful years (May 30th, 1964). Together they built a life centered on faith, family and cherished memories. She treasured many years spent with Chuck at their condo in Huron, where they enjoyed boating, perch fishing, and time together along the lake. She enjoyed traveling with her husband and going to the casino. She was also an avid Ohio sports fan who passionately cheered for the Cleveland Browns, Ohio State Buckeyes, and her favorite the Cleveland Guardians.

Sylvia was preceded in death by her parents, Frank and Stella (Karmilowicz) Kaszubinski, husband, Charles, and brothers, Karl and Leonard Kaszubinski,.

Survivors include her daughter Deborah (Robert) Webber of Elyria; sons, Dale (Margaret) of Kansas City, Darryl of Medina and David (Melissa) of Avon. Sylvia was also a proud grandmother to 10 grandchildren and 5 great-grandchildren, all whom brought her immense joy and happiness.

The family will receive friends on Friday May 22, 2026 from 10:00-11:00 a.m. in the Weigand Room of St. Mary Church. A Mass of Christian Burial will follow at 11:00 a.m. in the Sanctuary of the Church. The Rev. Fr. Charles Diedrick will be the Celebrant. Entombment will follow in Calvary Cemetery, Lorain.

In lieu of flowers donations may be made to St. Mary’s Church
